Tastescape is run by me, Fenella, my husband Jamel is the pizza man, and my daughter Kahina is my left hand. Dali the grouchy teen sometimes even graces us with his presence to complete the family affair.
The business is small, which makes us nimble. It also allows everything keep its handcrafted feel - the vast majority of the food, down to the sauces and pickles, is handmade by me and all the whole foods are hand selected. Yes, I do indeed take curation rather seriously.
We’re a mobile business, which means we come to you, unload our bounty and construct a landscape of tastes for you and your guests to journey through. My endgame is to create cherished memories.
Exactly how your particular feast will look depends on your event. Every spread I do is unique and specially curated for the location and occasion.
A brief history of me, Fenella
My life has always revolved around beauty and creativity - be it in flavours or fabrics or finish.
Before starting Tastescape, I worked for decades in fashion. It the 1980s, I launched Empire Line in Fremantle. I later designed for Antipodium and then my own label, Fenella Peacock.
In my shop in Mosman Park, Nells Emporium, I merged textiles with taste. In the front of my beloved little emporium hung clothes and an assortment of beautiful accessories from global designers. Out the back, we had the cafe in the day and Jamel’s pizza of a night.
These days, I regularly style food for Sourc online magazine and develop recipes with Anna Flanders.
I also run a school of design and sewing, which keeps me plugged into my long love of fabrics and fashion, and allows me to hand my passion and knowledge on.
This processing of passing along passion is at the core of what I do. I learned the love of food through my family who enjoy big lives and big flavours. Now I’m overjoyed to be passing that same love onto my family’s the next generation.
